The NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone and the Buffalo Sabres have made no moves on the final day before 3 p.m.

The Sabres did make a minor league deal on Tuesday, sending forward Dan Catenacci to the New York Rangers in exchange for defenseman Mat Bodie. The Sabres did have some targets on the market like Dmitry Kulikov, Cody Franson, Brian Gionta and Evander Kane, but no teams were willing to make a deal with Sabres general manager Tim Murray.

Around the NHL, a number of trades occured on Wednesday with a few notable names on the move.

Perhaps the most notable name on the move was 22-year old Curtis Lazar, who goes from the Ottawa Senators to the Calgary Flames. The former first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft (17th overall) goes to Calgary along with AHL defenseman Mike Kostka in exchange for defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka and a second round pick.

In 33 games with the Senators this season, Lazar has only put up one assist and has been in and out of the lineup on a regular basis. Lazar is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Defenseman Mark Streit was on the move not once, but twice on Wednesday. First, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for forward Valtteri Filppula, a 2017 fourth round pick and a conditional 2017 seventh round pick. Shortly after, Streit was moved to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2018 fourth round pick.

Streit, 39, has scored five goals and registered 21 points in 49 games with the Flyers. Streit is in the middle of his eleventh season in the NHL, and is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

A couple of former Sabres were on the move this afternoon as well.

Thomas Vanek was traded from the Detroit Red Wings to the Florida Panthers for defenseman Dylan McIlrath and a conditional third round pick in 2017. Vanek has had a bounce back season in Detroit with 15 goals and 38 points in just 48 games. Vanek will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Also, Drew Stafford was moved from the Winnipeg Jets to the Boston Bruins for a conditional sixth round pick. Stafford has struggled this season with four goals and nine assists in 40 games win Winnipeg. Like Vanek, Stafford will become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.

39-year old Jarome Iginla was also moved on Wednesday, as the Colorado Avalanche shipped him off to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional fourth round pick in 2018. It has been speculated that Iginla could retire at the end of the season after a playing in over 1,500 games in his career. This season, Iginla has posted eight goals and 10 assists in 61 games with the last place Avalanche.

As for the conditions of that trade, if the Kings do not make the playoffs and they do not re-sign Iginla after the season, the Avalanche will get nothing in return.
