The Buffalo Bills will be without the services of Josh Allen on Sunday in New Jersey against the New York Jets. Allen has been ruled out of action as he continues to work back from his sprained elbow.

The Bills’ rookie quarterback was working in with the first team offense on a limited basis throughout the week, but the team announced on Saturday that he will not play.

With Allen out of action on Sunday, the Bills announced that they are expected to start Matt Barkley under center as Nathan Peterman will back up the 28-year-old veteran quarterback.

Barkley’s last start came back in the 2016 season as a member of the Chicago Bears. That season, he started in six games, going 1-5 while throwing 129-of-216 for 1,611 yards, eight touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

As for Peterman, he started last week in the Bills’ matchup with the Bears. He went 31-of-49 for 188 yards and three interceptions in a 41-9 loss at New Era Field.

Derek Anderson will also not play this week as he remains in the concussion protocol.

The Bills also announced on Saturday that Tremaine Edmunds has been cleared from the concussion protocol and is expected to play against the Jets.

Buffalo also announced that they have added wide receiver Robert Foster to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Foster has played in six games this season for the Bills, making two catches for 30 yards.

To make room for Foster, the Bills released linebacker Ramon Humber.
