Allen to practice in full on Monday

Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen is one step closer to returning to the starting lineup.

On Monday, head coach Sean McDermott said that Allen will practice as a full participant as he continues his road back from a sprained right elbow. The 22-year-old practiced on a limited basis for the entire week before the Week 10 matchup with the New York Jets, but was unable to dress for the game.

It is the first time that Allen has practiced in full since suffering the injury during the third quarter of the team's Week 6 loss to the Houston Texans.

McDermott also said that while Allen has not been fully cleared yet by the medical staff, he is likely to start this week when the Bills host the Jacksonville Jaguars at New Era Field.

In six games this season, Allen has gone 2-3 as the starter while completing 75-of-139 passes for 832 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions. Allen's best performance this season came in a 27-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 of the season at U.S. Bank Stadium. In that game, Allen threw for 196 yards on 15-of-22 passing and a touchdown. Allen also ran 10 times in that game for 39 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

As for other injury news, quarterback Derek Anderson will not practice as he remains in the concussion protocol. Anderson suffered the concussion late in the Bills' Monday Night Football loss to the New England Patriots back on October 29. If he is unable to return, that means Matt Barkley would likely be the backup to Allen this week.

Also not practicing on Monday is tight end Charles Clay, who continues to deal with a hamstring injury. Clay has been out of action since suffering the injury during the 41-9 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 9.

However, there is some good news surrounding linebacker Matt Milano (concussion) and defensive end Trent Murphy (knee) as both players will practice on Monday on a limited basis. Milano left the Bills' 41-10 win over the Jets after suffering the concussion early in the fourth quarter. As for Murphy, he's missed the past three games with his knee injury that came in the Week 7 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.
