Special teams have become not so special for the Buffalo Bills against the Houston Texans, as the Bills have muffed a punt and had a punt blocked by the Texans, leading to a 10-0 deficit at halftime for the Bills.

The Bills defense has been up to the challenge thus far, with Kyle Williams tallying 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble so far, while Jordan Poyer had an interception to end a Texans drive near the end of the half. The Bills offense has continued to struggle, with only 52 yards at the half. Josh Allen was 9-of-13 for 45 yards. LeSean McCoy has only 5 carries for 20 yards. Sacks and penalties have crippled the Bills offense as well, giving up two sacks for 16 yards lost.

The Texans struck first on the scoreboard after a muffed punt by Ray-Ray McCloud, ending the drive with the short field with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson to DeAndre Hopkins. While Tre'Davious White had solid coverage, Hopkins made the tough catch to give the Texans the lead.

After the Bills failed to get the ball moving again, the Bills punt team was pushed back on the entire left side of the formation, leading to a blocked punt for the Texans recovered at the BUF 21. The Buffalo defense stepped up again, limiting Houston to only a field goal and minimizing the damage on the great field position.

When Houston was driving after the two minute warning, Buffalo's defense flexed their muscles again, coming up with an interception of a Watson pass that was caused by good pressure by the defensive line. Jordan Poyer came up with the interception to end the scoring at 10-0 at the half.

The Bills started off the second half with an interception from Lorenzo Alexander to give the Bills the ball at the HOU 30. However, the Buffalo offense could only muster a field goal to cut the lead to 10-3. The Bills got another field goal thanks to a 39 yard pass from Allen to Kelvin Benjamin to set up a 52 yard bomb from the leg of Stephen Hauschka. It may have come at a cost, as Allen left the drive with a right arm injury. Nathan Peterman checked into the game at quarterback.
