Gameday: Packers lead 19-0, Bills offense continues to sputter

September 30, 2018 - 1:47 pm

The Buffalo Bills are taking on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field looking to add to their shocking win from last week. However, the Bills have looked like the team that opened the season at 0-2, trailing in the first half by a score of 16-0 to the Packers.

Josh Allen has struggled, as the rookie is 5-of-19 for 58 yards and an interception that ruined the Bills chances to get points at the end of the first half. On the other side, Aaron Rodgers has been solid for Green Bay, 12-of-20 for 158 yards and a touchdown and an interception.

Rodgers hooked up with Ty Montgomery for a 43-yard gain to set up a touchdown pass from Rodgers to Jimmy Graham from 3 yards out. Packers kicker Mason Crosby missed the extra point, leaving the score at 6-0. However, the Bills offense continued to stagger. The Packers tallied on another touchdown, as they went 9 plays to march down the field against the Bills defense that was missing Micah Hyde due to a groin injury. Aaron Jones capped off the drive with a 3-yard run to make it 13-0.

The Bills defense got an interception from Jordan Poyer to start a drive at midfield. However, the Bills were forced to punt and miss out on an opportunity created by the defense.

Allen and the Bills drove down the field with a two minute drill, looking to get some points to end the half, but Allen's desperate pass towards the end zone after a blitz wound up being intercepted by Jaire Alexander. The Packers took advantage of the turnover, needing only 47 seconds to get a 52 yard field goal from Crosby to end the half leading the Bills 16-0. The Packers added another field goal coming out of the half to make it 19-0, as the Packers defense has continued to frustrate Allen. Ha-Ha Clinton Dix picked off Allen, the second turnover for the rookie QB.
