New acquisition Corey Coleman was not active, same going for fellow receivers Zay Jones and Cam Phillips, as well as defensive end Trent Murphy and linebacker Corey Thompson. Running back LeSean McCoy also was sat out by the team despite dressing for warmups.

The Bills defense started the game and the Bills defense got off the field quickly after allowing an early first down on a screen pass to Panthers running back Christian McCaffery. This led to Peterman and the Bills offense making their preseason debut. The Bills first drive was a rousing success for Peterman, who went a perfect 7-for-7 for 75 yards and a touchdown to Kelvin Benjamin to take a 7-0 Bills lead. Benjamin had 4 catches on the opening drive for 59 yards and a touchdown.

First Quarter:

  • 7-0 BILLS (7:17) - Nathan Peterman 28 yard pass to Kelvin Benjamin
    • Drive info: 8 plays, 85 yards, 5:14
