Important 2019 NHL offseason dates

With the Stanley Cup Final now officially over, the NHL offseason is officially underway league-wide.

Here are some important dates to keep in mind moving forward:

June 15:

  • First player buyout period begins

June 19:

  • NHL Awards in Las Vegas

June 21:

  • Round 1 of the NHL Draft in Vancouver

June 22:

  • Rounds 2-7 of the NHL Draft in Vancouver

June 23:

  • 12 a.m.: Interview period begins for upcoming unrestricted free agents
  • 5 p.m.: Deadline for teams to tender qualifying offers to restricted free agents

June 25:

  • 2019-2020 NHL schedule released

June 26:

  • Contact period with restricted free agents begin

June 30 (5 p.m.):

  • First player buyout period ends

July 1:

  • 12 p.m.: NHL Free Agency begins
  • 12 p.m.: Qualifying offers and offer sheets can be accepted
  • Players in final year of a contract are eligible for a contract extension

July 5 (5p.m.):

  • Player-elected salary arbitration deadline

July 15:

  • Qualifying offers expire

July 20:

  • First day of salary arbitration hearings

August 4:

  • Last day of salary arbitration hearings

August 15:

  • Signing rights deadline for college drafted players
