Jaguars' Ramsey has strong words for Allen, calling him 'trash'

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey has always been known to be a bit of a smack talker in the two years he has played in the National Football League.

This past Sunday, Ramsey was suspended for a week from Jaguars practice for going after a team beat reporter on social media after he filmed and posted a video of a team fight between teammates Dante Fowler and Yannick Ngakoue. The team called it a violation of "team rules and conduct unbecoming of a Jaguars football player."

On Wednesday, Ramsey was back in the spotlight again. This time, it was for an article posted at, where he sounded off on some of the league's quarterbacks.

Ramsey was asked about several quarterbacks around the NFL, and brought up some of the quarterbacks taken in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. One of the quarterbacks he brings up in the article is Buffalo Bills' rookie Josh Allen.

This is not the first time that Ramsey has chirped Allen's way. Back in May during Bills rookie minicamp, the Bills' Twitter account tweeted a video of Allen taking his first snaps a Bill. Ramsey then quote tweeted the Bills' tweet saying, "That's a pick waiting to happen..." Ramsey deleted the tweet shortly after posting it to Twitter.

Following practice on Wednesday, Allen said that he is not fazed by what the Jaguars' cornerback had to say.

"That's the first I've heard of it," Allen said when asked about Ramsey's comments with GQ. "He's not on my team, he's not my teammate. It doesn't bother me.

"I don't care. It doesn't bother me one bit. I care about my teammates and what my teammates think of me. When I step on the field, ultimately I'm trying to win football games and trying to be the best quarterback for this team."

Ramsey went on in the article to go through and give his personal thoughts on other quarterbacks in the NFL.

He went on to say that he understood why Baker Mayfield went No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns, but feels that Lamar Jackson should have been the next quarterback off the board instead of going at the end of the first round.

Ramsey did give praise to some quarterbacks, saying that Deshaun Watson and Carson Wentz are both MVP caliber type of guys for the next 5-10 years. He also said that former Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor is a better quarterback than he gets credit for around the league, and he compares him to the type of player that is Tennessee Titans quarterback, Marcus Mariota.

As for his quarterback in Jacksonville, Blake Bortles, Ramsey goes on to say that he goes out and "do what he gotta do," especially in crunch time moments. He also said that during the AFC Championship game last year against the New England Patriots, he felt the team got complacent and conservative, and that the team didn't trust him enough.

However, Ramsey had plenty of things to say to slam some other quarterbacks in the NFL.

He said that a guy like New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is not good, but his connection with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is good.

On Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethelisberger, Ramsey called him "decent at best," saying that he lets his receivers go get passes he throws, but did say he will be in the Hall of Fame.

Ramsey also called Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan "overrated", and called him a bust a year after winning MVP honors.

The Bills and Jaguars will play against each other this season, meeting in a Week 12 matchup at New Era Field in Orchard Park.
