Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - Jeff Skinner has agreed to an eight-year contract extension with the Sabres for $9 million per-season.

Skinner liked playing in Buffalo, and after he spoke with new coach Ralph Krueger, he decided he'd like to stay if they could come to an agreement.

Skinner, who just turned 27, scored a career-high 40 goals this season, but averages 30 goals over 82 games. Buffalo acquired him last August from Carolina for Cliff Pu, a second round pick, a third round pick and sixth round pick.

In 661 NHL games, Skinner has 244 goals and 442 points.
