(WGR 550) - Team USA blew a 2-0 lead, but was able to hold on and beat the Czech Republic 3-2 at the World Championship.

Patrick Kane (Chi) leads the tournament in scoring and ripped home his 7th and 8th goals to help win it.

The U.S. sat back in the third period and let Keith Kinkaid (NJ) win it with some good saves. Kane told TSN, “We were talking before the game and we wanted to play to win, whatever it takes. They took it to us in the third period, they had more shots than we did, probably sat back a little bit, but at the same time, we got the win.

“We got contributions from everyone. I thought we did a great job of keeping our composure, not getting a power play throughout the game is a little bit frustrating, but we scored a goal in the third and shut the door.”

Kinkaid made 24 saves on the game as Team USA got out shot in the third 9-5.

Derek Ryan (Car) set up both Kane goals. The game winner was aided by a Czech defenseman falling down allowing Kane to walk in through the left circle.

Cam Atkinson (Clm) scored the other Team USA goal and is third overall with seven goals.

The win puts Team USA in the semifinals against either Sweden or Latvia and guarantees that the Americans will play for a medal. Team USA has won seven of its eight games.
