From the Locker Room: Sabres-Canadiens

November 08, 2018 - 10:03 pm

A see-saw, Atlantic division battle went the Buffalo Sabres' way as they took care of the Montreal Canadiens 6-5 in overtime. Vladimir Sobotka and Jeff Skinner potted a pair of goals each, and Rasmus Ristolainen dropped the curtain on the Canadiens with an overtime rocket past goalie Carey Price.

Let's go inside the locker room to hear from Skinner, Ristolainen, Sobotka and Phil Housley after the win.

Jeff Skinner:

On the effort: "Bit sloppy on our end but it was a good job by the guys to stick with it, especially on the road in a building like this."

On the faceoff draw goal: "It was a good play by [Jack] Eichel. Good play and set-up by him on that draw. We were looking for a lift and he stepped up huge there."

Rasmus Ristolainen:

On his game-winning goal: "It was a long shift and I made a horrible play earlier, but they missed the net. They were tired too when I came back up ice, and got my shot off."

Moving forward:"I think this game is going to make us tighter and we're going to grow as a group here. Big two points, and we'll learn from it."

Vladimir Sobotka:

On the resilience: "They came back with some big goals but we stuck to our gameplan and got two huge points tonight."

Playing with E-Rod: "He brings good vision and is a great passer, he's special to play with."

Phil Housley:

On the effort: "We have to recognize those things that we need to buckle down on, but overall the guys battled through it for a big win."

Late rally: "Our third period was our best period. We kept coming with those good looks and got one late to tie it."

PK unsung heroes: "Our penalty kill did an excellent job, especially on those two 5-on-3s.  All that said, the guys hung in there and I give a ton of credit to them."
