McDermott: "Josh is our starter, and will remain our starter when healthy"

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott joined Schopp & the Bulldog on Monday afternoon for his final visit ahead of the team's Week 11 bye.  Buffalo thrashed the AFC East foe New York Jets yesterday, and the team is going into the season break on a high note.

Here is some of the best from McDermott's time on WGR.

McDermott on Josh Allen's readiness ahead of Sunday:

"I would say he was close. The signs started to present themselves that he would not be able to go."

McDermott on Allen's injury:

"He has had no setbacks.  It has just been a natural progression of a young player coming back from an injury, and we knew we had the bye week coming up... I thought he was playing his best game of the year [at the time of the injury] and made his best throw of the season on the play he was injured."

McDermott on Barkley's role moving forward:

"I was around a similar situation in Philadelphia years ago where A.J. Feely came in and won some games for us, but when our starter was back and ready, he re-assumed his role. Josh is our starter, and will remain our starter when healthy. Though I thought Matt [Barkley] did a great job, Josh is the starter."

McDermott on potentially keeping four quarterbacks on the roster:

"There's not a whole lot of teams that carry four. We have to try and re-balance the board here as things settle down."

McDermott on the week ahead:

"Having this late of a bye week is a little unusual and unique. It has been a grind, but will be good to get a little rest."
