Report: Bills kicking tires on former UB star RB Oliver

July 13, 2018 - 4:15 pm

Reports have surfaced that the Buffalo Bills are going to work out former University at Buffalo running back Branden Oliver.

The Bills have shown interest in setting up a workout with former Chargers and former University at Buffalo RB Branden Oliver, a source said, but nothing has been set up yet. Their interest in Oliver predates LeSean McCoy story this week.

Oliver started off his career as an undrafted free agent.  In 2014, Oliver signed his first deal with the then San Diego Chargers.  He has played in three seasons in the NFL, all with the Chargers.  Oliver's most productive season came in 2014.  Oliver posted 853 total yards from scrimmage with a total of 4 touchdowns.  However, in the 2015 season, Oliver played in just eight games and started in only one of those games.  The 27 year old running back has struggled staying healthy, as he sat out part of the 2015 season and failed to take a single snap in the 2016 NFL season.

As current running Bills back LeSean McCoy is under investigation, the Buffalo Bills are looking at potential options in case they need a replacement for the 2018 NFL season.  Oliver is looking for a fresh start after struggling the past few seasons.  While there are reports that Oliver is going to workout out with Buffalo, nothing has been confirmed just yet.
