Report: Bills sign guard Isaac Asiata

July 23, 2019 - 6:42 am

According to the agent of Isaac Asiata, the former Dolphins guard has signed with the Bills.

Asiata, selected in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Utah, played one game for the Dolphins his rookie year. He was waived prior to the 2018 regular season, but then signed to the team's practice squad and was promoted to the active roster in early November, playing one game.

The 6-foot-3, 345 pounder was waived/injured by the Dolphins and placed on injured reserve in May, then ultimately released last month.

The Bills have yet to announce any deal for Asiata, but according to NY Upstate, it is for the veteran minimum.

Once the deal is announced, the Bills will have to make another roster move to get back under the 91-player limit (they are allowed an exemption for RB Christian Wade).

The team has focused on addressing the offensive line this offseason, already signing players who've totaled over 300 NFL games played and 196 starts, then also drafted Cody Ford in the second round. Asiata will add to the competition when training camp begins Thursday.
