Report: Brian Daboll not among finalists to be Browns coach

January 10, 2020 - 3:31 pm

The Bills already lost one coach this week, in now former defensive line coach Bill Teerlinck, but it doesn't look like they'll lose their offensive coordinator. Early on Friday, Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reported that Daboll was among three serious candidates to be the next Cleveland Browns head coach. Now that doesn't appear to be the case.

Daboll staying in Buffalo for his third season would allow quarterback Josh Allen to have the type of continuity that other quarterbacks from his draft class haven't had. Daboll has received some criticsm for the Bills finishing 23rd in the NFL in total offense, but Allen did take steps in his second season.

If Josh McDaniels were to leave New England for Cleveland, that could make it harder for the Patriots to bring back Tom Brady for 2020. McDaniels reportedly is meeting with the Browns on Friday.
