Report: Lawrence Pilut is considering leaving for the KHL

An up and coming young defenseman may be on his way out of the Sabres organization. Lawrence Pilut, who has had a tough time getting minutes with the Sabres in the past two seasons, is reportedly considering leaving for the KHL.

If Pilut is frustrated for a lack of playing time, he's not alone. Several Sabres defenseman were rumored to be frustrated with their roles, including Zach Bogosian who reportedly requested a trade.

Pilut was an AHL All-Star with the Amerks. He played 37 games in the AHL, and just 13 games in the NHL this past season. He has shown lots of promise as a passer on the backend and has become a darling in the analytics community.

Just because there is a report in Swedish newspaper, does not mean that Pilut is a goner. Last year, it was reported in Sweden that Johan Larsson was signing in the Swedish Hockey League, which ultimately did not happen.

Our own Jeremy White tweets on Pilut, that it very well could just be a negotiating tactic, as Pilut is a restricted free agent this offseason.
