Sabres announce qualifying offers for seven RFAs

The Sabres have officially announced qualifying offers for seven restricted free agents. All of which spent time with the team last season.

Zemgus Girgensons and Johan Larsson come back for their fourth contracts with the Sabres, despite some speculation that the team would move on from one or both.

All seven players are arbitration eligible.

The most surprising player to be extended a qualifying offer is Remi Elie. After the Sabres claimed Elie on waivers from the Stars, he spent most of the season in Buffalo as a healthy scratch. Elie played just 16 games for the Sabres, and finished the year in Rochester.

Players not qualified include former Sabre draft picks Eric Cornel, Brycen Martin, and Sean Malone. Although, Malone has already signed a 1-year AHL contract to stay in Rochester. He played one game for the Sabres in 2017.

Also not qualified was defenseman Jack Dougherty. He was acquired from the Predators last season in exchange for Nick Baptiste.
