Sabres announce training camp roster

September 11, 2019 - 5:50 pm

The Buffalo Sabres announced their roster for training camp on Wednesday, just one day before the players report to KeyBank Center for testings and physicals.

A total of 52 players will take part in this year's training camp, with the first on-ice practice coming on Friday at KeyBank Center. The roster will need to be cut down to 23 players just before the start of the season on Thursday, October 3 when the Sabres take on the Pittsburgh Penguins.

A number of players on AHL contracts have been invited to this year's camp, including forwards Eric Cornel, Sean Malone, and Kevin Porter, defenseman Zach Redmond and goalie Michael Houser.

One player who has received an invite to camp is forward Kyle Olson, who recently played with the Sabres at the Prospects Challenge this past weekend. The 20-year-old had a goal and an assist in three games played with the Sabres, and showed some good two-way play throughout the tournament.

Among the players who were invited to camp but will likely not take part due to injury are defensemen Zach Bogosian, Lawrence Pilut and Matt Hunwick, and goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.

This year's training camp will primarily be held at KeyBank Center, and will feature three sessions that will be open to the public on Sunday, September 15, Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27.
