Another game, another loss for the Sabres as they couldn't keep up with the Canucks on a high-scoring afternoon in Buffalo.

The Sabres opened things up in the first period. After a power play, the Sabres sustained pressure in the offensive zone with Jack Eichel and Rasmus Dahlin each carrying the puck a number of times. After the penalty expired, Dahlin was able to thread a needle to Brandon Montour whose slap shot found it's way in between the legs of the Canucks defender and over the shoulder of Jacob Markstrom, who didn't see the shot.

The Canucks took their time but answered back later in the period. Troy Stecher worked his way up the side boards and took a bad shot toward the net, but Brock Boeser was able to get a piece of it to go by Sabres goaltender Carter Hutton, starting his first game since December 17th.

The Canucks carried momentum into the second period and found the net early with Bo Horvat, but the Sabres were able to answer right back on the power play. Sam Reinhart found the net off another Rasmus Dahlin pass that he one-timed past Markstrom.

J.T. Miller opened things up in the third period to put the Canucks ahead once again, but the Sabres were quick to answer yet again. Kyle Okposo fired a puck from the boards that Zemgus Girgensons was able to get a stick on and deflect between Markstrom's leg.

From there, it was all Canucks all the time. Brock Boeser fired it home shortly after Girgensons tied it, and the Canucks never looked back. About a minute after going ahead, the Canucks scored yet again on a delayed Sabres penalty. Buffalo couldn't get anything else on the board after that, and it was Loui Eriksson who put the icing on the cake with another empty net goal in the third.
