Sabres sign C.J. Smith to one-year deal

The Buffalo Sabres continue to crank out a myriad of signings as they keep checking names off their list of restricted free agents here in July.  C.J. Smith becomes the latest skater to sign on the dotted line, as he and the Sabres have agreed on a one-year, two-way contract worth $874,125.

Smith has two career National Hockey League games under his belt.  He made his NHL debut at the tail-end of the 2016-17 campaign, where he registered his first career point in two games. Last year in his first full professional season, Smith racked up 44 points in 57 games with the Rochester Americans. His 44 points were good for third-best on the club.

With the Sabres' officially signing Smith, that leaves just one unsigned RFA left on the table: Sam Reinhart.
