Sabres sign Sean Malone to one-year contract

The Buffalo Sabres announced the signing of forward Sean Malone to one-year-two way contract earlier today.  Malone, a Buffalo native and a sixth-round draft choice of the team back in 2013, is coming off his first full professional season spent with the Rochester Americans in the AHL.

In 73 games, Malone tallied 22 points, 12 of which were goals.  Those 12 goals were good for second on the team among fellow rookies.

He also added two points in the team's three playoff games this past season.

Malone has one game of NHL experience under his belt.  He made his debut with Buffalo in the final game of the 2016-17 regular season, racking up just over 12 minutes of ice-time while registering a shot on goal.

The deal is reportedly worth $787,500 at the NHL level. The 23-year-old is expected to enter the mix in preseason to potentially earn a spot in the bottom-six for the Sabres for the 2018-19 campaign.
