The pick can become a 2019 3rd-round pick if certain conditions are met.

I have also confirmed this report through my sources.

The Sabres looked to bolster their forward depth, where Sheary can add some secondary scoring. Sheary, 26, is coming off of a season where he tallied 30 points (18 goals, 12 assists) in 79 games. Sheary has 93 points (48 goals, 45 assists) in 184 NHL games over three seasons. That averages out to 21 goals and 41 points over 82 games.

Sheary was undrafted after four seasons at UMass-Amherst.

The Sabres also took in Hunwick, who appeared in 42 games for Pittsburgh last year. The 32-year-old blue-liner is not known for putting points on the scoresheet, as he has 117 points in 521 NHL games with Pittsburgh, Boston, Toronto, the Rangers and Colorado.

Hunwick was a 7th-round pick of the Bruins in 2004 ouf of Michigan.

This trade is a clear salary dump for Pittsburgh as it saves $5.25 million with the trade.
